As a Medical Assistant, you will be a professional dedicated to assisting in patient care management. Your duties are varied and include greeting patients, updating and filling patient medical records, filling out insurance forms, scheduling appointments and arranging admission and laboratory services.  You will also be classified as an allied health practitioner working in any of a number of different medical facilities.

The Medical Assistant program at South Central College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of Medical Assistant Education Review Board.

Faculty Spotlight - Medical Assistant

Cristen High
Cristen High
Cristen teaches Medical Assisting courses as well as coordinates and places students in their internships. She has been a nationally certified Medical Assistant for over 15 years and teaching in higher education for 10 years. Cristen is originally from Oregon and a U.S. Navy veteran. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities with her family: camping, boating and kayaking. Since moving to Minnesota they've added sledding and tubing.
