Purpose: SCC will provide access to Senior Citizens per Minnesota Statute
Applicability: Senior citizens (see definition below) as provided in Minnesota Statues 2010, sections 135A.51, Subdivision 2, may be enrolled in credit courses on a space-available basis beginning on the first class day of the term through the fifth class day of the term.
Senior citizens enrolled in credit courses are not charged for tuition, but are charged an administrative fee of $20 per credit, in addition to applicable and Minnesota State allowed fees, including but not limited to per-credit Technology and MSCSA fees, textbook and material fees, application and placement fees. A charge will be applied to closed enrollment training programs. Other fees, such as parking or a late fee may be assessed if applicable.*
Senior citizens enrolled in non-credit courses are not charged for tuition unless the course is designed and offered specifically and exclusively for senior citizens. Other fees, such as parking, textbooks, materials, special course fees or a late fee may be assessed if applicable.* A charge will be applied to closed enrollment training programs.
Audited courses: No fees for courses are applied. Other fees, such as parking or a late fee may be assessed if applicable.*

Definitions: As defined in Minnesota Statues +135A.51, a senior citizen is a legal resident of Minnesota who has reached 62 years of age before the beginning of any term in which a course of study is pursued, or a person receiving a railroad retirement annuity who has reached 60 years of age before the beginning of a term.
